Medical ML & Biosignal Processing

Seven patents in ECG/biosignal pattern recognition — algorithms deployed in ICUs worldwide — provide a clinical engineering foundation that very few ML consultants can match. Deep familiarity with the validation rigor, false positive/negative tradeoffs, sensitivity/specificity constraints, and deployment realities that medical ML demands.

Current active work in PCG (heart sound) classification using mel-spectrogram + ViT and pretrained audio foundation models (HuBERT, Wav2Vec 2.0).

Biodiversity & Ecological ML

End-to-end ML research pipeline built for lichen classification in collaboration with Arizona State University: BioCLIP ViT-L/14 + ArcFace metric learning, multi-locus phylogenetic inference from GenBank data, UMAP/HDBSCAN clustering, and PostgreSQL biodiversity database engineering across 200,000+ taxa records.

Directly applicable to other ecological imaging, species identification, and biodiversity informatics engagements.

ML Systems Architecture & Data Engineering

Broad production systems experience — distributed database design, microservices architecture, cloud platforms (AWS DynamoDB, RDS, ElastiCache), and API design — applied to the challenge of building ML pipelines that actually run in production.
